Home Builders Association expresses concerns to County Commission

• Denied the request to rezone 16 acres from agricultural to residential zoning, allowing 12 one-acre lots. The property, located near Highway 122 and Quarterman Road, is one-quarter of a mile north of the Quarterman Road Subdivision, which has 85 half-acre lots. The Quarterman Subdivision rezoning was put in place in the 1980s, according to county documents. Commissioners Richard C. Lee and G. Robert Carter voted to deny the request with Commissioner J. Edgar Roberts opposing the motion.

“The issue of setting a precedent is of some concern,” Lee said, adding that the Commission should adhere to the ULDC and Comprehensive Plan.
